As a semi-retired LEO, I have been engaged in building a 5.56 tactical/practical rifle… slowly, very slowly… methodically selecting various components that can fill a wide variety situational needs. After travelling from show to show, reading professional periodicals and networking within the LEO community, the AD-170-VPG-5LIG STD mount was selected for my Wilson Combat Rifle, with a Vortex Sparc II red dot mounted on the receiver. Plans were made to have the ability to use the QD mount feature, to transition between a red dot, to long range telescopic optics, and BUIS sights Changing from red dot, to a telescopic optic and then back to a red dot was easily accomplished. This red dot mount held a ‘zero position’ with at least 10 changes in the field, under simulated stressors. Using the correct Vortex plate, a 1⁄1 true co-witness BUIS height was also attainable. You cannot go wrong with a purchase of this particular item, period! How impressive was this mount? Well, I purchased a second… with the only regret that I did not add the ‘tactical lever’ selection featured on the order form. Look at the updated product availability for this lever as a single item purchase, or with the installation on the mount already.
